veterans as candidates ~ 2008
Under construction for the 2008 Session
Just being a veteran does not necessarily make one a viable candidate. Just being a veteran doesn't necessarily make even a viable candidate worthy of your vote. Veterans who are candidates should understand miiltary and veterans' issues, but more than that is necessary to make a good public servant. You must do your own research to determine who in your district is the right candidate for you.
We are providing a place here for veterans and their supporters to list the candidate, their district or office, and their opponent(s). Veterans United For Truth, Inc. does not endorse any candidate, veteran or not. This listing is a service to fellow veterans only, and nothing should be implied from the fact that these names are listed on our site.
Our readers are encouraged to add to this list, or to correct listings by sending an email with the pertinent information to scook@vuft.org. Listings from all parties are welcome. Please only send listings for federal office, state-wide offices, state legislatures, or mayors/supervisors of major cities.
Veterans, whether Incumbent, or Challenger, are shown in red; non-veterans are shown in black. The abbreviation "CD" is Congressional District. In cases where more than one veteran is running for the same seat, all are listed.
Incumbent veterans who do not have veterans for challengers are listed without their opponent until after their state has its primary. Opponents will be filled in as they are determined by the voters. Losers in the primaries will be culled from the list as the primaries occur. Primary winners will be highlighted in yellow; those pending a runoff will be highlighted in blue, as the information becomes available. Completed primaries will be highlited in reverse white on black.
